Adjunct Professor

Brendt Patrick Gerics graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder, in 2018, with a master’s degree in mathematics. His area of focus was in differential geometry. He began teaching for the University of Denver that same year, and he has been teaching there ever since. He also works full time as a software engineer at Splunk and is excited to bring the skills and values he continues to gain there to the classroom.

The academic work he’s most proud of is his pedagogy centered around psychological safety, which informs his efforts to create a class environment where his students feel comfortable expressing themselves and discussing their creative thoughts or academic challenges. Above all, he is committed to fostering a space where students feel comfortable saying, “I don’t know.” He believes the full potential of mathematics can only be reached in an environment that prioritizes the human experience.
